Second Annual International Conference on Agriculture and Forestry 2015 was successfully completed with over 70 participants from more than 13 countries which are India, Pakistan, Malaysia, Jordan, Ecuador, Bhutan, Turkey, Bangladesh, Nigeria, South Africa etc.
There were 43 oral presentations, 02 poster presentations and 15 virtual presentations. In the conference we have allotted a separate session on ‘Food security’ and also scheduled a discussion with the industry specialists, practitioners and policy makers to create a platform to share ideas. To make the event more success and to promote the sustainable agriculture and global food security, we have invited deans, professors, lecturers and students from local universities. Directors of organizations such as Occupational health and food security and ministry of agriculture also have been invited to share the emerging findings of researches in the relevant field and to discuss new implications of agriculture field.
Participation of Prof. Swaminathan was a great achievement of ICOAF 2015 and it is a huge attainment for our future agriculture conferences as well and Prof. Swaminathan has accepted to be a life time adviser in agriculture conferences which will be organized by TIIKM and he was excessively delighted and willing to offer an award from his name called “Prof. Swaminathan’s Award” to overall best presenter starting from the ICOAF 2016 Manila, Philippines.
The objective of this conference was to create a premier forum for the local and international researchers, scholars and academicians to share their research results in the fields of Agriculture and Forestry. We believed that we successfully achieved that objective during the conference.
As per the schedule, conference was chaired by Prof. D.K.N.G. Pushpakumara and 03 key note speeches were delivered by Prof. M. S. Swaminathan, Prof. D. K. Weerakoon, and Prof. Buddhi Marambe.
